Mgahinga National Park.
Seated on an area of approximately 33.9 square kilometers, Mgahinga National Park is one of the beautiful regions in the southwest of Uganda. Mgahinga National Park was established in 1991 to protect the endangered mountain gorillas that inhabited its extinct volcanoes of Sabyinyo, Muhabura and Gahinga. Mountain gorillas inhabit the thick rainforests on the lower slopes of the mountains and that’s where they are tracked from.
The National Park is located in Kisoro district and it’s just a 10 hours and 25 minutes’ drive away from Kampala city. The National Park has over 40 gorillas in its thick forests though only 21 in one family called Nyakagezi are habituated and can be tracked.
Bwindi Impenetrable national park.
Bwindi Is a renowned UNESCO World Heritage site and is the home to Africa’s oldest tropical rainforest. The rainforest is home to the endangered mountain gorilla species accounting to over 600. The National Park is located in the western arm of the East African Rift Valley and is seated on an area of 331 square kilometers in the present-day Kanungu, Kisoro, and Rubanda districts. Bwindi is a 9-hour and 25-minute drive away from Kampala.
The National Park has four gorilla tracking sectors with each of them having several gorilla families making it a true gorilla tracking haven. It was created in 1991 after the collaboration of the government and international conservation bodies to help conserve the endangered mountain gorillas that were prone to extinction due to poaching and other human activities.
Volcanoes National Park.
Virunga National Park is located in the eastern part of Democratic Republic of Congo in the Albertine rift valley and is seated on an area of about 7769 square kilometers that are densely forested. The forests are a home to mountain gorillas and it is important to note that this is the only National Park in Congo where mountain gorillas can be found.
In addition, the park was inscribed a UNESCO World Heritage site due to its outstanding biodiversity. Virunga National Park was established in 1925 in April to conserve the mountain gorillas that were prone to extinction due to the civil unrest in the region.

Volcanoes National Park is the only National Park in Rwanda offering the activity of gorilla tracking since gorillas inhabit 5 of the 8 Virunga volcanoes near the National Park. Gorillas inhabit the lower slopes of the volcanoes, especially in the bamboo plantations and that is where they are normally found.
Gorillas in this region feed on bamboo shoots making it easy for the travelers to track them since they are ever feeding therein. Volcanoes National Park is located in the northwest of Rwanda and it covers an area of approximately 160 square kilometers. It was created in 1926 and it is one of the Dian Fossey researching grounds of zoology. Due to its diversity, the National Park is a celebrated UNESCO World Heritage site.
Kahuzi-Biega National park.
Kahuzi-Biega national park is yet another densely forested area in the Democratic Republic of Congo and is home to the eastern lowland gorillas. It is really a huge area and it sits on an area of 600,000 hectares that are characterized by mountain forests which are a good habitat for the eastern lowland gorillas. Visitors flock to the park to have an experience of the gentle giants up close, take pictures of them and learn more about them.
The National Park was established in 1970 by the government of Congo and it was inscribed by UNESCO as a true World Heritage site.
South Sudan is one of the countries in Africa that cannot be mentioned when we talk about tourism. South Sudan is located in the North of Uganda and extends to the Horn of Africa in the southeast. There are various tourist attractions in South Sudan where visitors can marvel at art.
These include but are not limited to the Bandingilio National Park which offers extraordinary encounters with wildlife species, especially the big 5 animals, the White Nile is another attraction that cannot be left out since most visitors go to the Nile to have exciting water activities such as whitewater rafting, boat cruises to mention but a few, cultural encounters to the indigenous Dinka people are also activities that visitors often find interesting.

Kenya is one of the exciting destinations in the eastern part of Africa. The country is renowned for its spectacular wildernesses and various encounters with wild animals in its frenzied national parks. Visitors to the country are excited about the great wildebeest migration that they get to experience while in its Masai Mara national reserve. This comes along with encounters of other wildlife species especially the big 5 animals, serval cats, hyenas, cheetahs name them.
