Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Pick up from Kampala and drive to Bwindi national park with a stopover at the equator.
This is your first day and you will be picked up from Kampala early in the morning to be transferred to Bwindi impenetrable national park located in southwestern Uganda.
This journey takes about 8 to 9 hours; you will have a stopover at the equator. You will have lunch, relax, and stretch your legs before you head onto the remaining journey. After lunch, you will then continue to Bwindi through Kabale to your booked accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking and transfer to lake Bunyonyi for a sunset boat cruise.
Have an early morning breakfast, the driver will come to pick you up and transfer you to the park headquarters for the pre-gorilla trekking briefing. During this session, you are told how to behave once you get to encounter the gorillas.
Under the guidance of an experienced guide, you are divided into groups of eight and led through the thickets searching for gorillas. Trekking takes about 2 to 3 hours depending on where gorillas will be found.
Once you get to encounter your assigned gorilla family in their respective sector, you are given one hour to be in their presence as you observe their feeding behaviors, and how they breastfeed and take care of their infants and juveniles. You can take a few snaps to keep for memories, and after head back to the headquarters where you get a certificate that proves trekking gorillas in Uganda.
The driver will pick you up and take you to Lake Bunyonyi where you will get to enjoy a sunset boat cruise for about 2 to 3 hours. You are able to enjoy the scenic beauty and the relaxing atmosphere at this lake as you engage in different activities like bird watching, island exploration, and cultural insights. You can choose to have dinner and an overnight stay at Lake Bunyonyi.
Day 3: Transfer from lake Bunyonyi to Kampala with a stopover at Igongo Cultural center for lunch and museum tour.
This marks the end of your 3 days Uganda gorilla tour, have an early morning breakfast and the driver will come pick and embark on the journey back to Kampala. You will have a stopover in Mbarara at Igongo Cultural Center where you will shave lunch, relax and stretch your legs.
At Igongo Cultural Center, you will engage in a museum tour and catch a glimpse at the fascinating rich cultural heritage and history of the Ankore region. You get a chance to see artifacts, photographs, tools, and crafts of the Ankore people.
Get a chance to learn about the region and enjoy lunch at the Ankore cuisine where you can savor traditional Ankore dishes which is a great way to experience the local flavors and culinary traditions. After this, you can now embark on the remaining journey back to Kampala.
